| A blowback AR (no gas tube) is extremely easy to field strip. As a matter of fact it is easier than a lot of Pistols I own to break down and manage. | ||

My ramblings (Over all feelings; Why this Gun; is it worth it):
| Very cool. Free floating barrel, full rail system and light weight. The 5.7x28 is actually getting pretty affordable compared to .22 hornet or .223 and you should be able to find 50 rounds of 5.7x28 for $20 on most store shelves now. Here is the why I bought it: I really like my PS90 but it cost so much I really never had a backup for it. I shoot the PS90 a lot and have never had a problem with it so when I saw something that could take the same round and the same magazine and cost a grand less I was really excited and thought what the heck. So I went into the gun shop to see if they could order it. My Gun shop has this love hate relationship with me - they love the fact that I buy stuff, and they hate that I never buy normal stuff and they usually have a lot of research on their hands. This time however they had actually just got the 5.7 AR Upper on the shelf 2 days before I walked in, so it ended up being a very simple sell. I took it home, inspected it, cleaned it and rigged it with a short term optic (the 1moa Holosight). A couple days later I took it to the range and broke in the barrel with 20-30 rounds and then did a full inspection again and found no problems. I then proceeded to scope it in and put 200+ rounds through it without a problem. In Short: It shoots straight, it is rather light, you can shot 50 rounds and not trip over any brass, easy to clean and field strip. One Cool Little add on: One thing that is very slick is the little brass catcher I made for it. It will probably make some people sick that I sacrificed a Sig 30 round magazine - but I wasn't going to kill one of my HK magazines. First just break the magazine down and remove the spring and follower. Then you have to cut a significant amount of the top off because it needs to clear the new bolt. I took a the extra step of smoothing the inside edges so the cases could eject without any snags. I then put some soft sided Velcro along the inside bottom to help cushion the first rounds in the box I do collect all the brass from all my 5.7x28's and have the Hornady reloading dies. However I have never re-loaded any as Hornady doesn't have a readily available bottom plate for my reloader. |
